10/27/18. Revenant Acres Farm is a 30 acre plot of land in rural Indiana with a creepy old house built in the 1800s, a dilapidated barn, and farm land as far the eye can see. The small two-story house is your typical haunted house with a dark grey exterior, peeling paint, boarded up windows, uneven flooring, and a musty smell.
The price, as of 2018, was only $25 a person! I couldn't pass up this bargain of an investigation especially since I am boycotting those haunted places that charge outrageous fees to investigate. We loaded up the RV and on the 4 hour road trip to the farm, I googled the claims. Although it seemed nobody had come up with a reason why this property is haunted, there were many claims of paranormal activity including a sighting of an old woman spirit, poltergeist activity, obscene words from the spirit box, disembodied voices, an unfriendly spirit upstairs possibly named Paul, "I am seven" heard on the recorders, and even possessions.
We met with our guide for a short tour to begin the night. She first told us of a newsman who recently visited the farm and had all kinds of equipment problems. We would soon find our own equipment failing. She confirmed the fact nobody knows why the house is haunted. Tribal chants have been recorded. Could this be the location of ancient Indian grounds? Some people believe there are portals in the house which is why so many spirits can be heard. People feel uneasy on the stairway. The barn holds furniture from the previous tenants who just up and left their belongings, although she told us the barn is not safe and we should not go in there.
The manager was kind enough to allow us to bring our dogs with, so we had one person in the RV at all times to babysit. We were very thankful to have use of a bathroom in the camper and a place to warm up as it was in the 40s outside.
Our first stop was the second floor bedroom. This room is set up like a kid's room with children's toys scattered around and a couple old dressers. This is the location where some people believe is a portal. I did notice two mirrors across from each other in this room. Mirrors, especially across from each other, are thought to create a window to the other side.
We had so much activity in this room. It was a great start to the night. Many responses from the spirit box were heard and two K2 meters across the room from each other continued to light up the entire time we were in the room. We did determine a certain place in the middle of the floor had electric going through it as there was a light on the ceiling in the room underneath. It really felt like there were many spirits coming and going. The rumors of a portal may be true.
One of the investigators, Chris, discovered his camcorder that was filming the stairs stopped working unexpectedly. The batteries in our main camcorder were draining fast. I also had a battery die in my audio recorder. The house was taking the energy from our equipment which was fine with me because we were already experiencing some great activity.
Here is a short video of my interview about our experiences on the second floor.
the house knows our names
During a spirit box session in the living room we asked the spirits if they could say one of our names and we received a response - Chris, who is one of the investigators. Chris and Joe left the house to take a break in the RV. The people that stayed in the house asked if the spirits could name the people who just left. We couldn't make out the first word but hope with further review that it said Chris, the rest of the answer was ... and Joe, we heard the words very clearly and it chilled us to the bone.
an unexpected visitor
We had an unexpected visitor stop by the farm during our investigation, the owner's grandson, who brought his girlfriend by to see the house but he refused to step foot in the home which he hasn't been to in 20 years. Here is our impromptu interview with the girlfriend and grandson.
to sleep or not to sleep in the house
I always sleep in the buildings we investigate. This is a great chance to experience paranormal activity with fewer people in the building and dead silence. Even if there is no heat, as long as there is electricity, I plug in my electric blanket and stay toasty warm all night. This time I did not sleep in the house due to the fact that we had visitors just stop by the house and the front door sticks and is very hard to open when shut all the way. A few times the women were unable to open the front door and had to text the guys to let them out. I did not want to be awoken by any strange beings that were alive, those scare me more than the dead ones, and I did not want to be stuck inside the house with no way out if something went terribly wrong.
I was gifted this cool Bigfoot caller from my teammate, Karen. Check out Joe giving it a try.
We experienced a lot of activity at this location which made for a great night of investigating. The owner was very responsive to any questions we had. I can recommend this location. This is a no thrills hunt but the price is fantastic. The house consists of a kitchen, middle room (probably dining room), living room, 2 small bedrooms downstairs and 1 bedroom upstairs. There is no bathroom, heat or air conditioning. There is electricity, although many of the outlets did not work. The house does have a crawlspace, which is not accessible. The opening is in the dining room area but is boarded up. There is a fire pit outside for your use, bring your own wood. The house is located on a busy road which did quiet down at night.
